Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is your cancellation policy?
    Our tours run rain or shine. If you need to cancel, please contact us at least 48 hours in advance of the start of your tour for a full refund. Otherwise, you are welcome to reschedule, as availability allows, or we can issue a credit for future use. Each tour requires a minimum number of participants. If a tour is cancelled because the minimum isn’t met, or because of exceptional circumstances such as hazardous weather, you’ll be notified and offered a different date/experience or a full refund. For our Lunenburg Distilled: A Spirited Adventure package [private tour], cancellations must be made at least 7 days prior to the experience date or will be subject to the full cost. If we should have to cancel, experiences are 100% refundable.
  • How do I book a tour?
    Our online booking system shows scheduled tour availability, you can click here.
  • How early should I arrive for the tour?
    Please arrive 10 minutes before the designated time, our tours start promptly.
  • Can I book a private tour?
    We are pleased to accommodate private tour requests to the best of our ability. Please see our Private Tours page for more information.
  • What happens if I am running late?
    We begin our tours promptly but if you are running late and see the group close by, you are most welcome to join in.
  • Can I take photos and videos on the tour?
    You're welcome to take as many photos as you like. Tag us on socials @lunenburgtours ! Videos or audio recordings of our tours are not permitted.
  • Where do we meet for the tour?
    Each tour has a unique meeting location, please review the information on your booking confirmation to see where your tour starts.
  • How long are the tours?
    Our tours range from 60+ minutes to full day experiences.
  • Where should I park?
    Ample free parking is available in designated areas around Lunenburg and everything in town is within walking distance. Conveniently, free parking is also available at the Lunenburg Academy (97 Kaulbach Street), where many tours begin. There is also a paid parking lot at The Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, located on the waterfront.
  • How do I pay?
    You can pay in two ways. We encourage you to pay for your tour online, using a credit card at the time of booking. It’s fast and easy. If you do need to pay at the time of your tour, we can accept exact cash only.
  • Should I tip my tour guide?
    If you feel your guide has given an exceptional tour, your tip is certainly appreciated and at your discretion.
  • Is the haunted tour suitable for children?
    This tour is family friendly and there is no age limit, but parents and guardians are requested to use their best judgment as the tour does include some mature content.
  • Are there washroom facility stops during the tours?
    There are no designated washroom stops during the tours. To arrive prepared, please visit the public washrooms at 39 Bluenose Drive.
  • Do you cater to special needs and mobility issues?
    Our tours are suitable for people of most mobility levels, including those using chairs, scooters, and walkers, as long as they are accompanied by a companion. Some tours have gentle rises and uneven terrain, such as our haunted tour which may be a consideration for those with visual and mobility challenges. Other tours involve boarding and disembarking from boats. If you have a specific request, please contact us directly at info@lunenburgwalkingtours.com.
  • What should I wear?
    We recommend comfortable footwear and layers to suit your needs. As the weather can change, we suggest you plan accordingly - sunscreen and umbrellas have been known to be used on the same tour.
  • What happens if it is raining?
    A little rain doesn’t stop us, but exceptional circumstances like hazardous storms with severe thunder and lightning, and heavy rain, may force us to cancel. We will contact you only if we are certain your tour will not run. Should that happen, you will be refunded if re-scheduling is not an option.
  • Do you accept walk-ups?
    Walk-up guests are always welcome for our Essential Lunenburg and Haunted Lunenburg tours. We recommend, however, before arriving you check our booking calendar (Reserve Now) to ensure your desired tour is available. Please note: cash only payments for walk-ups.
